Information for preachers

If you are leading worship at St Mark's you may find the following helpful.

You will receive a letter from the stewards about 10 days before you are due to visit us. Please send your order of service to our choirmaster <music@stmarksmethodist.org.uk> by Thursday lunchtime, in preparation for Choir Practice that evening, and for printing on the notice sheet.

Music

The following hymn/song books are available:

If you wish to use other musical resources these can usually be accommodated with prior notice.

The choir usually sings an introit to both the morning and evening services, and an anthem during the evening service. The choirmaster will be happy to discuss any particular requests you have.

Sparx (Junior Church)

Sparx members will be present at the start of Morning Worship, and leave after the first hymn and opening prayers, unless the service includes communion. It is requested that there is no special address for the young people. For morning services with communion, the young people will only be present for the communion.

Readers

Unless you request otherwise, readers will be found from the congregation for two bible readings both morning and evening. If you choose three readings, please be prepared to read one of them. Please indicate any particular requirements, e.g., a specific bible translation, on your order of service. We have bibles available in our pews for the congregation; the versions we have are the Good News Bible and the New English Bible.

Taping of services

Services are recorded from time to time for distribution to housebound members and adherents. If you would like a particular service recorded for continuing Local Preacher development, or for any other reason, this can usually be accommodated with prior notice. Please indicate if you do not want your service to be recorded.

Multimedia

We have facilities for playing tapes and CDs during the service, and we can provide an OHP given enough notice. We do not have equipment for projecting video or computer presentations.

Further information

Please contact a church steward <stewards@stmarksmethodist.org.uk> or the choirmaster <music@stmarksmethodist.org.uk> (as appropriate) if you would like any more information. We look forward to sharing in worship with you at St Mark’s.

Directions to St Mark's are available elsewhere on this website, or see the Circuit map.
